Creating positive learning spaces
Annapoorani Ammal Middle School in Saidapet, Chennai, an institution catering to the underprivileged students in that area, was in a dire state, desperately crying out for a rejuvenation. The Karam Korpom Foundation, wholeheartedly took up the mission of revitalizing the school and reached out to the community for support through crowdfunding. Thanks to the kindness of generous donors who extended their helping hands, Karam Korpom embarked on this transformational journey.
With invaluable support of 85 dedicated volunteers, alongside professional painters, this school underwent a remarkable metamorphosis. Three buildings and four classrooms were transformed through vibrant repainting, captivating wall art, and the creation of educational artwork inside the classrooms. What was once a drab and weary space evolved into a vibrant, colorful, and positively charged learning environment, spanning 6,500 square feet. Over the course of two weekends, on the 22nd and 29th of October 2023, the team collectively put in approximately 340 man-hours of dedication into this endeavour.
The sight of enthusiastic children embracing their newly revitalized classrooms was deeply gratifying, a testament to the incredible impact of community collaboration. It serves as a heart-warming reminder of what can be achieved when kind-hearted individuals unite for a common cause.
Our sincere thanks to major donors Sri.A.Ramesh, Sri.S.Parthasarathy, Sri.Murugappan, Sri. Appannasamy, Innerwheel Club of Madras North, Malathy Madhavan Charitable Trust and all the other donors who generously donated and to all volunteers, who made this transformation possible.
We are planning to take up the next phase of renovation soon after the monsoon.
